Sumida River Fireworks Festival

Lighting up the Shitamachi night sky with around 22,000 fireworks
Tokyo's Shitamachi has turned a new page in its history with the opening of the Tokyo Skytree. One of the summer traditions in this area has got to be the Sumida River Fireworks Festival. A total of 22,000 fireworks can be enjoyed from either of two venues along the Sumida River, including 200 for a fireworks contest between experts who compete to create the most technically-spectacular explosion.
