Nabana no Sato
One of Japan's three greatest festivals, with a history of more than a thousand years
One of Japan's three greatest festivals, along with Kyoto's Gion Festival and Tokyo's Kanda Festival. It is held at Osaka's Tenman Shrine, and traditions that have continued since 951 include the land procession in which some 3,000 people parade, and the boat procession that involves 100 or so boats. Another of its many highlights is a display of around 4,000 fireworks (based on last year) that paint the night sky a myriad of colors.
