Shosuke no Yado TakinoyuFukushima

One place where you can enjoy the elegant world of the traditional Japanese inn is Shosuke no Yado Takinoyu, on the outskirts of Aizuwakamatsu in Fukushima Prefecture. Its hot spring was enjoyed by Hijikata Toshizo. He played a major role in the Meiji Restoration of 1868, which is an added attraction for people interested in Japanese history.
Guests can expect breathtaking views of waterfalls and mountains from the guest rooms and hot spring area. Thanks to the good quality of the water, the local rice is noted for its fine flavor. Places in Japan that produce excellent rice generally also make excellent sake. When you check in at the inn, you are offered a welcome drink service, which includes three or four kinds of Fukushima sake and hot green tea with Japanese confections. The morning buffet is highly recommended. It includes handmade mochi (rice cakes) made from local rice, and you can choose your own topping. The buffet offers many wonderful local foods.
The Takinoyu inn is a place to relax. And Aizuwakamatsu itself is a charming spot, rich in history.
